February, 2016 goals: Assist Friends of Barefoot Beach Preserve & Simulate Fire
A. Assist our sponsors, the Friences of Barefoot Beach Preserve (FOBBP) by weeding the cactus garden, and preparing for lecture series. The FOBBP are an entirely volunteer organization. They put on a lecture series during season, for which we will help them prepare. The also maintain a butterfly garden, and a cactus garden, as well as many other contributions to the Preserve.
B. Remove ragweed from area just North and South of the Boardwalk at parking lot 2. It has formed a virtual monoculture in many sunny areas of the Preserve.
C. Relocate the brush piles from the south side of same area. This will reduce continue with teh goal of simulating fire by removing a firs source. It will also reduce the visual impact of the project from the boardwalk, and prevent unwanted animals from living in the brush piles.
